Young Franco

“It’s about the movement, energy, and an ongoing dialogue between old and new.” - Young Franko

A DJ and producer hailing from Brisbane, Young Franco’s journey began with a deep fascination for hip-hop, the boom-bap beats of the ‘90s, and the scratching techniques of early DJs. What started as a curiosity about how sounds were made quickly evolved into a full-fledged passion for production. “I just wanted to understand how they made that scratch sound,” he recalls.

His early years were about self-exploration—DJing at friends' birthdays and diving deep into the mechanics of sampling. From looping classic breaks to experimenting with dance music, Young Franco’s signature style emerged as a blend of hip-hop’s rhythm and house music’s pulse. “I was obsessed with the groove,” he says. “There’s something about the way drums sit in a track that can make or break a song.” That obsession with rhythm became the cornerstone of his music, infusing his productions with infectious energy that refuses to let listeners stand still. As his sound evolved, so did his inspirations. The dusty samples of the past gave way to the polished euphoria of house and disco. His music today is an intersection of nostalgia and modernity—where classic drum breaks meet shimmering synths, and groove is always king.

“I love when people put my music in their playlists for the gym, pre-games, or even just their morning routines. If it makes their day a little better, that’s what matters.” - Young Franco

When Young Franco steps into the studio, there’s no rigid formula. His process is organic, driven by the energy of the moment and smiles. Sometimes, it starts with a sample—an old jazz chord, a funky drum break, or a nostalgic vocal chop. Other times, it’s a drum groove that dictates the direction. “If it’s not making me nod my head, I know it won’t work.” His love for percussive elements is evident. From crisp hi-hats to rolling snares, every layer is groovily placed to create rhythmically engaging productions. “The groove comes first.”

His music thrives on collaboration. Whether it’s working with vocalists, rappers, or fellow producers, he enjoys the spontaneity of bouncing ideas in real time. “Sometimes I’ll have a beat sitting in my catalog for years,” he admits. “Then the right person comes along, adds their magic, and suddenly it clicks.” His latest single, Lose Control, is an example to this collaborative spirit. Originally created in 2020, it took years to find its perfect form. “I always had the beat, but it didn’t have a home yet.”. Enter EarthGang, the Atlanta duo known for their dynamic lyricism. “They brought a new energy to it,” he recalls. “It was the missing piece.”

Young Franco’s music is rooted in joy. His sound isn’t about melancholic introspection—it’s about movement, connection, and celebration. “Music, especially dance music, is supposed to be fun.” His influences may have started in the underground hip-hop scene, but today, they span decades and genres. He digs through forgotten archives for inspiration, blending the old with the new. “I love finding hidden gems—songs I’ve never heard before that make me think, ‘How did they do that?’”

His upcoming tour is set to bring those good vibes worldwide, with stops in Australia and the United States. From San Francisco to Miami, his sets are crafted to make people move. “If people are dancing, if they’re having a good time—that’s all I could ask for.” For Young Franco, music is an invitation. An invitation to dance, to let go, and to feel the moment. And as long as there’s rhythm, he’ll be there curating.
